Major redevelopment of John Forrest Secondary College unveiled
- $51 million redevelopment of John Forrest Secondary College officially opened
- Major upgrades include refurbishment of several existing buildings to create state-of-the-art college
- Project part of WA Labor Government's record $4.4 billion investment in new and improved school infrastructure across the State
The Cook Labor Government has delivered a massive upgrade of John Forrest Secondary College in Morley to support students and local families in the rapidly growing area.
Premier Roger Cook and Education Minister Dr Tony Buti today officially opened the new facilities, which were delivered as part of a $51 million redevelopment including refurbishment of a number of existing buildings and a construction of a considerable extension.
The old administration building has been redesigned into a Student Wellbeing Hub to provide a learning area space for students who need to work in small groups or with specialist staff. The hub also has staff offices and meeting spaces, with a dedicated reception area.
The old health centre has been converted into a Pathways Hub that will support the college's work to create purposeful pathways for students beyond school. The hub will bring together the Vocational Pathways Coordinator, Career Practitioner, Senior School Academic Coordinator and Workplace Learning Support Officer.
New facilities at the school include a gym, performing arts centre, food technologies areas, a cafeteria, design and technology hub, administration offices, a library, hardcourts and a student services area.
This major project was delivered as part of a record $4.4 billion investment by this WA Labor Government into upgrades to education facilities right across the State. Since 2017, 31 new primary schools and five new high schools have been opened.
